Crystal Singer is about the trials and tribulations of Killashandra Ree in becoming a crystal singer on the planet Ballybran.
An unsuccessful musician travels to the planet, Ballybran, to join the Heptite Guild and risk great dangers to mine a strange form of crystal in return for great wealth.
