Story 3 in the Apprentice Adept series

Cover Notes

Imagine a world existing in two contrasting alternative possibilities.

One world is a harsh heavily industrialised wasteland with domed cities protecting the occupants from a poisonous atmosphere. All of the world's wealth is held by a few extremely wealthy citizens. The rest of the world's inhabitants are the serfs who willingly forgo everything - possessions even clothing - for an ultimate final prize in 'The Games' that of becoming a citizen themselves.

The other world is a beautiful wooded land where magic is an accepted part of the norm. The most powerful magic users, the Adepts - each named for a colour - having slit up the world between them.

The parallel between the Citizens and the Adepts is obvious, but others are noted as the stories develop.

Imagine also that each person might exist in both worlds, but if he or she dies in one world, then the other may pass freely through a 'curtain' between the worlds - if they know where and how.

But things are changing and the separation between the worlds is collapsing. One world is Proton and the other is Phaze and they are both in danger whilst a power struggle continues.
